In past years, the presence of international students has been a
great blessing to the VWMTC program. Many of them have completed
our program and gone on to do great works for the Lord in their
countries of origin or elsewhere on world mission fields.
Since VWMTC is now a new startup program, we do not have
international nonimmigrant students participating in the program
during the present 2007-2008 school year. This is because we
must first seek the approval of the Department of Homeland
Security SEVIS Operations for our program which in turn
authorizes us to issue Form I-20's to enrolling international
students through the automated on-line SEVIS system. The
international student then presents the Form I-20 to a U.S.
Embassy in his or her country to apply for a F-1 visa.
To seek and obtain DHS SEVIS approval for VWMTC to issue
its own Form I-20's is a time-consuming process. But we are
confident we will be authorized by the Federal government to accept
international nonimmigrant F-1 visa students into our program
in time for the upcoming 2008-2009 school year.
Pages 9 and 10 of the on-line VWMTC Catalog provide more details
on the requirements and responsibilities of international students wishing
to enroll into VWMTC. A very important criteria is that the international
student must guarantee in writing in advance of enrollment that he or
she has sufficient financial resources to pay for tuition and living expenses
for a school year. The above reference in the on-line VWMTC Catalog
provides financial guidelines.
